Take Root with Glitter Kitty Productions and TrioDance Collective
Glitter Kitty Productions
Glitter Kitty Productions presents the world premier of “The Devil's Ballet”, where dance, music, and puppetry arts bring to life this imaginative and visually rich production. Inspired by Estonian folklore, it is a tale of an innkeeper, his wife, their cat and servant in their bittersweet pursuit of happiness and fortune. Performed by Jeff Davis, Emily Vetsch, Annie Now and Abby Payne.
Emily Vetsch and Annie Now, Glitter Kitty co-founders, collaborate to present vibrant dance theatre, puppetry, and musical performance events. The Glitter Kitties strive to create natural art and to bring audiences and performers into a living theatre that entertains and enlightens, a living body of artists and fearless explorers in perpetual motion. Providing invaluable resources and a home to create natural art, reminding each of their infinite potential.
Barbie Diewald's technically rigorous “Rooms” uses the imagined structure of a childhood home to explore family resemblances, heirlooms and ailments. Throughout, the dancers alternate between direct involvement and active witnessing from the periphery as the work unfolds.
Barbie Diewald is a New York based choreographer born and raised in Chicago. She develops her choreography within the Framework of TrioDance Collective, which she co-founded with Emily Jeffries in 2010. Now in its seventh season, TrioDance Collective seeks to champion the individual dance artist within the support of a group structure. TrioDance Collective has been the recipient of residencies at SILO (DanceNOW) in Pennsylvania, The Field’s Emerging Artist Residency, and The Putney School in Vermont. The company received a 2013 LMCC Manhattan Community Arts Fund Grant for GREEN LINE, which presents the work of emerging choreographers who work with ensembles. Barbie's choreography has been presented at 92Y’s Harkness Dance Center, Mark Morris Dance Group, The Cunningham Studio at Westbeth, The Kitchen, THROW at Chocolate Factory, Newsteps at Chen Dance Center, BAX Upstart Festival, Underexposed at Dixon Place, Dance Conversations at The Flea, CPR, and Green Space. She was a selected choreographer for Dance Theater Workshop's 2011 Bessie Schonberg Lab in Composition, as well as SUMAC headed by Susan Marshall in 2012.
