Elizabeth Goldsmith, who recently announced that the Board of Elections deemed her petition to run for the 10th Senatorial District seat invalid, is now considering herself as a potential “write-in” candidate.

Ellen Young, who is running for the Assembly in the 22nd District, has received the endorsement of the New York Times and said that she was “proud and honored” to have gotten it.

Organizations from the Korean community held a fundraiser on behalf of State Senator Frank Padavan, who is running for re-election, at Korean Village in Flushing on Wednesday, August 16.

On Friday, August 18, former Mayor Ed Koch endorsed Assembly candidate Rory Lancman. Koch said, “Rory Lancman is the best candidate to fight for New York City in Albany…and he has my enthusiastic support.”

Tom Suozzi, a candidate for Governor, released his “new vision for education.” His plan includes universal pre-k, lifting the cap on charter schools, giving pay incentives to teachers, creating a SchoolStat Program and giving principals more power, among other points.

Malachy McCourt, along with the rest of the Green Party of the New York Peace slate, filed a petition with the Board of Elections that had approximately 30,000 signatures. A form to accept his nomination to run for New York State Governor by the Green Party was also filed by McCourt.

A fundraiser for Senator John Sabini, who is running for re-election, was recently held at Long Island City's Water Taxi Beach. As a tribute to the diversity of the district, hamburgers from varying “ethnic and culinary traditions” were served. Among those in attendance were Borough President Helen Marshall, Assemblyman José Peralta and Councilman Eric Gioia.

Senator Frank Padavan has been endorsed by the New York State Nurses Association, the New York State United Teachers and the Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association.
