Representing doctors in no-fault car accidents

No-fault law had a big year in 2004 when the firms of Sanders, Grossman, Fass and Muhlstock, P.C., and Baker, Barshay and Neuwirth, LLP merged to form one of the largest no-fault collectors in the State of New York.

Together, they boast quite a long name (Baker, Sanders, Barshay, Grossman, Fass, Muhlstock and Neuwirth, Attorneys and Counselors at Law) and pack quite a punch in the field of no-fault collections. They represent more than 3,000 medical providers in New York and New Jersey, with offices at 150 Herricks Road in Mineola; in The Empire State Building; and in Bayonne, New Jersey.

No-fault cases involve medical collections for car accident victims.

“We represent the doctors who treat the victims of the injured parties,” said Todd Fass, a partner with the firm.

With more than 20 attorneys and 100 other personnel, the firm also specializes in personal injury law and hosts conferences and seminars for people interested in learning about the industry and no-fault law. Fass says the firm has a large staff dedicated only to these types of cases.

On Thursday, June 14, it sponsored a seminar on no-fault collections at King David Restaurant, 101-10 Queens Boulevard in Forest Hills. The event drew 150 guests including medical collectors and community members wishing to learn more about the field.

At the seminar, which stressed the firm’s theory of being “ready, willing and able to fight,” Fass said, guests witnessed an improvised no-fault trial and learned how to become better trial witnesses.

“We had a lot of people from the community, not just clients,” he said. “A lot of people are victims of insurance companies. The biggest perpetrators of fraud are the carriers. You don’t have to be intimidated.”
