The community will be able to learn about how they can play a part in stopping global warming during the Long Island Global Warming Summit on Saturday, September 29.

The summit is being hosted by the Center for Science Teaching and Learning (CSTL) and will take place at Farmingdale State College, which is located at 2350 Broad Hollow Road.

One feature of the event will be a panel discussion on “green issues and concerns” with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Congressman Steve Israel, Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi. There will also be various workshops, including “What’s Your Carbon Footprint,” “What Your Family Can Do to Reduce Global Warming,” “Environmental Investing and Your Portfolio” and “Bring Energy Savings Home.”

The film “An Inconvenient Truth” will be screening for an additional $2 per person.

Admission to the Long Island Global Warming Summit is $5 per person.

For more information visit the Center for Science Teaching and Learning’s website at www.CSTL.org or call them at 516-764-0045.
