Volunteers are sworn in

Wednesday, January 30, 2008 11:43 AM EST
The Whitestone Community Volunteer Ambulance Corps has been serving their community for almost 60 years, since community activists at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter took up a collection to buy a brand-new 1948 Cadillac ambulance.

Today, the service is available 24-hours-a-day, throughout the year, from their dedicated headquarters on 150th Street in Whitestone.

On Monday evening, January 21, Senator Frank Padavan (left) administered the oath of office to this year’s slate of officers. Shown here, from left, Louise Weiss, Treasurer; Mary Alice Cadolini, Secretary; First Aid Director Ralph Cefalo; Funding Director Marilyn Connors; Building Director Kevin Smyth; Purchasing Director Norman Applebaum and Vice President Herb Klein take their oaths.

For more information about the Corps, visit their website: www.wvac11357.com.
