New hoops Courts at playgroundYoungsters have a new place to shoot some hoops.
The City’s Parks & Recreation Department recently completed renovations at Sobelsohn playground in Forest Park that included improved basketball and handball courts along with new play equipment. Queens Parks Commissioner Dorothy Lewandowski and City Councilmember Melinda Katz’s Chief of Staff Vicky Morales joined teachers and students from P.S. 62 to celebrate the improvements to the park. “Summer is just around the corner, and we’re gearing up for another great season at Parks,” Lewandowski said. “Thanks to Councilmember Katz’s generous allocation, Sobelsohn Playground is new and improved - just in time for the warm weather.” In addition to the basketball and handball courts, Parks installed new game tables and benches for local chess players as well as new swings. - Pete Davis |
