Water gushed from underground at the scene of a water main break on Queens Boulevard at 55th Avenue in the early morning hours of Monday, January 5. Water service was shut off to six commercial establishments following the incident. According to Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) spokesperson Angel Roman, there was “very minimal impact on traffic.” Crews worked all through the day, replacing the 12-inch main and restoring water to all six customers at about 10 p.m. that evening. The cause of the break is currently under investigation.
