Peter Alfred Walters, 72, of Queens Village, passed away on Monday, May 25 at New Glen Oaks Nursing Home in Glen Oaks. He was born on February 25, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Peter Louis Walters and Barbara Walters (nee Beaumont). His family moved to New York's West Village when he was a child, and then to Ridgefield, Connecticut in 1950. He graduated from Ridgefield High School in 1954 and then attended the University of Connecticut, where he graduated with a degree in physics in 1958. He went on to work at Philips Electronics in Ossining, New York, where, according to family, he was part of the team that originally developed and introduced the compact disc as a new digital recording format. He previously worked for Sperry Electronics, IBM, and for the US Navy (as a civilian). Predeceased by his wife, Yolanda Karr (a/k/a Mary Lou White-Walters), he is survived by his sister, Susan Walters Winfield of Hamden, CT; his daughters Lisa Roxanne Walters of Brooklyn and Jennifer Razee of Jamaica, VT; and his granddaughter, Yemaya Yolanda of Brooklyn. A memorial service was held at the Robeson & Brown Funeral Home in Brooklyn. Marjorie O’Neill Marjorie O’Neill, of Whitestone, passed away on June 17. Beloved wife of Bryan. Devoted mother of Julie, Bryan, Thomas, Dorothy and James. Also survived by eight loving grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dear sister of Dorothy Holm and William Delmore. Arrangements were handled by the Martin A. Gleason Funeral Home in Whitestone. A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Luke’s R.C. Church. Interment was at Mount. St. Mary Cemetery. |
