A violin duo which showed America that Queens has talent on a national television show will return to the borough for a concert at York College on Friday, July 24 at 7 p.m.

Nuttin But Stringz is made up of Tourie and Damien Escobar, two brothers from Jamaica who studied at the Juilliard School in Manhattan. The violinists use elements of classical, pop, rock and hip-hop in their music.

Along with winning two Emmy Awards, Nuttin But Stringz was a finalist on the show “America’s Got Talent.”

The upcoming concert will mark the first time the duo has performed in the borough since the show. While performing for their hometown crowd, Nuttin But Stringz will be assisting the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, which will benefit from the concert.

“We have performed in front of many fans in many cities but this time we’re giving something back to our community,” Damien said.

According to a recent press release about the concert, Nuttin But Stringz will “take the audience on a journey of musical enlightenment.” The evening will also include a tribute to the late “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, who the brothers saw as an inspiration when it came to music and humanitarian efforts.

Other organizations that the Escobar brothers have been involved with include the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation. They have also said that they want to inspire other youngsters.

The two will be joined by a special guest for the concert.

“This is an opportunity for us to help children from our city and for our fans to help too,” Tourie said of the July 24 show.

The concert will take place in the main auditorium of York College, which is located at 94-20 Guy R. Brewer Boulevard in Jamaica.
