Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been endorsed by the Harlem’s Reverend Calvin Butts; pastor of the First Baptist Church of East Elmhurst, Reverend Patrick Henry Young; architect Maya Lin, who designed the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., and Russian-language weekly newspaper Vecherniy New York. Former candidate City Councilmember Melinda Katz, weekly newspapers The Jewish Sentinel and The Jewish Press, and the 45,000-member strong Retail Wholesale and Department Store union have endorsed Bill de Blasio for Public Advocate. Eight African-American clergy, including: Rev. Keith Bolden, Rev. Norman Coleman, Rev. Jeffrey Crenshaw, Rev. John Davis, Rev. Kevin Quarles, Rev. Dr. Carl Washington, Rev. Jerome Washington, and Rev. Curtis Whitney have endorsed Mark Green for Public Advocate. Former Mayor David Dinkins; Local 32BJ of SEIU; Council District 19 Democratic candidate Kevin Kim; weekly newspaper The Jewish Sentinal and The Jewish Press; Brooklyn Satmar community leaders including: President of the United Talmudical Academy of Borough Park Rabbi Aron Welz ; Rabbi Bernard Freilich, Chaim Goldberger, Rabbi Naftula Klagsbraun and Rabbi Mair Meisels of Borough Park; UJcare’s Gary Schlesinger; Central United Talmudical Academy’s Rabbi Moishe Indig of Williamsburg; Rabbi Leib Glanz, Moshe Hoffman, Joel Lefkowitz, Rabbi Elozer Porgess and Max Strauss of Williamsburg have endorsed John Liu for Comptroller. Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum and Councilmember John Liu have endorsed Democrat Kevin Kim for City Council District 19. Senator Frank Padavan has endorsed Republican Peter Koo for City Council District 20. The Queens County Republican Party has endorsed sitting Administrative Law Judges Robert V. Beltrani and John F Casey, and South Ozone Park attorney Joseph Kasper for State Supreme Court Judge. |
