Cell phone thief sought

Wednesday, November 11, 2009 12:34 PM EST
The lesson: Be careful when on the train.

Police are looking for a suspect wanted for a grand larceny – allegedly stealing a woman’s cell phone – on the subway.

The incident occurred on October 26 on the Manhattan Bound "E" train (in the vicinity of Jamaica Avenue and the Van Wyck station) when the 25-year-old female victim was approached by the 17-year-old suspect, described by police as 5'8", wearing a light gray sweatshirt and blue jeans.

After the subway entered the station and the doors opened, the suspect took the victim's cell phone – from her hand – and fled the scene.

Police ask that if you have any information, you call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
