A View from the Cliff continues to be a frequent, upbeat visit to live, family entertainment in Queens. My reviews began close to 20 years ago. This blog is a chance for readers to praise or pan our local performers. It's also a venue for uncovering hidden talent in our borough.
'Magical, Musical Moments IX' Salutes Eight Great Shows
In “Magical, Musical Moments IX: Back To Basics,” Beari Productions shares highlights from eight very different musicals. Act I opens with four songs from “Pippin.” There is a stirring solo of “No Time At All,” and three ensemble numbers.
“Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” follows with another four numbers, including a deliciously delightful duet of “A Little Priest.”
“Hello Dolly” features a poignant rendition of “Before the Parade Passes By.” Act I concludes with an enthusiastic tribute to “Godspell.” “Prepare Ye” is performed with fervor, followed by the equally powerful “God Save The People.”

Willson vs. The Gershwins this Weekend
Two great musicals are running on concurrent weekends here in Queens. I had the pleasure of attending both of them this past Saturday and Sunday. If you could only see one, how would you choose? Let’s see. Monday, March 15, 2010 2:52 PM EDT

Whether in book form, film, or theatre, nothing else comes close to intriguing a reader or an audience. Mysteries also engage television viewers. If it’s presented well, he or she can’t help guessing, “Who done it?” And that very question, “Who done it?” may well be the answer to the enduring success of the Killing Kompany.
